Before You Join

👋 Returning families -
skip if you've already registered your child's details this season (unless you need to change the details or add another child).

New families, please complete the form below. We need current details for safety and communication.

We want you to love being here.

And that starts with knowing what “here” really is.

Phoenix Institute for Performing Arts (PIPA), Phoenix Youth Theatre, and Phoenix Voice Academy aren't just places to perform. They’re communities built on shared values, mutual respect, and personal growth. We’re proud of the culture we’ve created, and we protect it by being clear about what it takes to thrive here.

This isn’t to scare you off. It’s to help you feel confident about joining a space where your child (and you) can grow.

What We Stand For

Growth over glory
We use theatre as a tool for human development. We love when children shine on stage, but we care more about who they’re becoming off it.

Effort over ego
We don’t reward talent without commitment. Students are expected to show up, reflect, stretch, and contribute to something bigger than themselves.

Structure AND joy
Children thrive with clear expectations and a playful, creative environment. We provide both.

Creativity that lasts
We protect imagination before the world teaches them to shrink it.

Excellence with heart
We hold high standards not to chase perfection—but because doing hard things well builds confidence that sticks.

Family participation (show programs)
We ask families to be involved: practice at home, volunteer when you can, and support the community around you.

This isn’t the right fit if...

- your child is focused primarily on getting lead roles or standing out

- you’re looking for a low-commitment, drop-off activity (show programs)

- your family prefers not to engage with communication, practice, or community culture

And that’s okay. The clearer we are, the better the fit.

If This Resonates With You…
Welcome. You’ll find a thoughtful, committed community here—families and staff who care deeply about what your child becomes, not just how they perform.

Let’s build something great together.

Show Commitment Contract

If enrolling in a show program, we agree to the following:

1. I’m here to grow, not just to get a part.
Casting decisions are based on many factors. I will respond to disappointment with maturity and remain committed, regardless of my role.

2. Being cast is the beginning, not the reward.
I will arrive prepared, focused, and open to feedback for the entire duration of the program. I understand that my role may shift if I do not maintain the standard.

3. I’ll be fully off-book by the off-book deadline.
That includes lines, songs, harmonies, and choreography (if provided).

4. I’ll contribute to a positive rehearsal culture.
I’ll dress appropriately, keep my phone away, show respect, and encourage my peers. Gossip, exclusion, or put-downs are never okay.

5. I will honor my commitment to the team.
If I audition or enroll, I agree to attend and participate fully. I won’t treat rehearsals as optional or drop out mid-season.

6. I understand that volunteering and fundraising are part of our community. Every family helps out in some way. We’ll be guided through simple, flexible options.

7. I’ll keep up with communication. Our family will read updates via the communication platform, email, or text. If we’re unsure about anything, we’ll ask.

8. I’ll respond to change with grace. If my role changes, I may ask for feedback, but I’ll stay respectful, avoid gossip, and look for new ways to contribute with excellence.

The Superstar

Who we're all here for. Let's grab some details!

Does your child have any learning differences, diagnoses (like ADHD, autism, anxiety, etc.), or personality traits we should know about? This isn’t about labeling, it’s about supporting. If there’s something you’d like us to understand to help your child thrive, please let us know. Sharing this doesn’t guarantee we can meet every need, but it gives us the chance to support your child thoughtfully and plan ahead.
Before you check the 'agree' box below, please review the PIPA and Phoenix Youth Theatre liability waiver, medical consent form, media release, policies, and expectations.
